I’m going to show you the difference between Rhino Shield and traditional latex paint by doing a couple of demonstrations.
There are actually three different grades of exterior coatings for your home.

LaTeX, latex, acrylic, and pure acrylic.
This is Rhino Shield. Rhino shield is an acrylic urethane elastomeric. It is at the absolute top end of the scale in terms of quality, durability, longevity, and protection.
This is regular latex paint. This is probably what is on the surface of your home right now, and is the go to for DIY and budget friendly paint jobs.

You can buy this at Home Depot or Lowe’s, and it’s pretty easy to apply.
It’s more than 60% water with plasticizers, pigments, and other fillers. This will look just fine on most surfaces, but offers little protection from water intrusion. Mold, algae, or salt corrosion. Now this is Rhino shield. You can already see on the lid that it’s a lot thicker.

Rhino shield only has 20% water because we’re mostly full of stuff that actually protects your home. Resins and ceramic microspheres.
Giving your home unparalleled protection against water intrusion, salt corrosion, and giving it a class A fire rating, while also maximizing its breathability and permeability to allow any moisture or water vapors to escape. It contains biocides that prevent mold and algae growth, and titanium dioxide to help minimize fading over time.

So you’re probably thinking, I love all the protective qualities in Rhino Shield, but how will this actually look on my home? And will Rhino Shield hide the beautiful textures on the exterior of my home?
Well, let me show you. Here is a sample of hardboard painted with latex paint. And here is the same Hardie board painted with rhino shield.

You can still see that nice texture showing through, and the same is true for any other surface. Stucco, brick. Vinyl T-1 11 Cedar and others, all while getting the superior protection I mentioned before.
Looking even closer. Rhino shield is on average five times thicker than regular latex, where regular latex is around 1.5 to 3 mils and thickness. Rhino shield three coat system is a minimum of 10 to 12 mils of thickness in comparison, giving you that maximum protection against water intrusion, mold, algae, and salt corrosion, while maintaining the breathability and permeability at your home needs.
